Hey GSSHA Members,

Hard to believe another show season has come to an end! Gem State experienced tremendous growth this year. We’ve had some fantastic shows and a great clinic with Matt Koch. I’d like to recognize all our members and sponsors for helping make it such a successful and exciting year! Putting on these shows takes a significant amount of time and energy from everyone involved. Thank you to everyone that pitched into volunteer at our shows. It was a hot summer and we appreciate all the time spent baking in the sun running the gates, running around, hanging banners, and more! Thanks are also due to our board members. They help guide this organization as we continue to grow. We’ll be wrapping up the year with our awards banquet on November 10th at Indian Creek Steakhouse in Caldwell.

This was my second year as your president and I sincerely appreciate all the kind and constructive feedback I have received. We have seen double and nearly triple our entries at some of our shows this season. That jump has sparked me to initiate some improvements for next season. We will continue to use your feedback to streamline the very popular online entry system.

We’ll also be changing the way we handle payouts. Checks will be available for pickup at the next show starting next year. You’ll be able to pick up your May checks at the June show, and so on. Any unclaimed checks will be mailed at the end of the season. This lets us be certain there’s no corrections or changes but helps you get your money faster.

Since I started my tenure as your president, I’ve been very open about soliciting feedback from all of you. I’ve had some questions recently about how funds are allocated. In the vein of my policy of absolute transparency about all matters concerning GSSHA, we’ll be posting information over the coming months about how we handle entries and how funds are allocated throughout the year. We will be discussing and publishing rules and guidelines around entries, addbacks, and added money.

I know there are always opportunities to improve any organization. I’ll be the first to tell you there are many improvements still to be made within this one. I make every effort to be straightforward and responsive to all concerns and suggestions. My leadership style is to be open and painfully honest with the other board members and our membership. We take your feedback very seriously and will address the recent concerns thoroughly and in a positive manner.

As we conclude our 2018 show year, I truly can’t say thank you enough to all of you for your support and involvement of this association. I hope to see you all at our banquet in November. Please keep the feedback coming!
