
Youth Scholarship!
The application consists of a written component along with a volunteer requirement.
Eligibility
– You must be 18 or under, but there is no minimum age.
– You have been involved with GSSHA during 2023
– It is not required that you show with GSSHA to qualify
– Applicants and award winners from previous years are welcome to apply again.
– You must volunteer at a minimum of one show and attend at least one board meeting. If you haven’t attended a board meeting yet, our next one will be held at 7 PM on December 5th at Shi Sushi in Caldwell. You can also attend our General Meeting before the banquet on January 27th.
Award
The scholarship amount will be $500-$1000*.
We’ll announce the winner and the scholarship amount at the banquet in January 2024.
* Final amount will be determined by the GSSHA Board of Directors
Written Component
Short Answers:
– Describe your involvement with Gem State in 2023
– Describe your activities and extracurriculars in school
– Describe your college or other future plans
– Describe your plans for the award money, if awarded
– What was your biggest takeaway from the board meeting you attended, or what do you expect to learn from the board meeting if you haven’t attended one yet
Essay Question:
– Describe what you think would be the best way to help grow the sport of Reined Cowhorse. Things to consider: sponsors, bringing new people into the sport, increasing the size of the audience, and any other creative ways you can think of to help our sport grow!
Optional Bonus Question:
Describe your horse as though he or she was a person. What kind of clothes would they wear? What kind of music would they like? Would you be friends if you went to school together?
